Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas break and finds some time for family and relaxing. Thank you to everyone that provided our delicious breakfast this morning: breakfast pizza, fruit and yogurt parfaits, and chocolate milk. We also did a neat snowman craft after our gift exchange. Thank you for all the nice gifts I also received - I am blessed to have this great group of kids this year!
I'll see the kids back on Monday, January 4th!

Grading
This year, we are transitioning to standards based report cards. We feel this will give teachers, parents, and students a better idea of where students are academically. Instead of letter grades, students will receive a 1, 2, or 3 (as they have at Stewart and 3rd grade). A 3 means showing proficiency in what we scored. We have certain standards chosen and will score tests and work under those standards. Because I want to be able to show you how I scored your child, I will be keeping the tests and work that are scored under one of the standards. Each student in my room will have a file of this work. I will show the work to students and will then collect it and share it with you at conferences. Please be patient with me as this is a learning process for us! I believe if you check grades in PowerSchool, you should be able to see the scores that I have entered. There should be a few in there already! Please ask me if you have questions - I would be glad to find out answers if I don't know!
